This course will prepare students to be professional lifeguards, engage in injury prevention, provide patron supervision, understand emergency preparation, preform important rescue skills, learn what to do before providing care, breathing and cardiac emergencies, CPR/AED, First Aid, injuries to muscles, bones and joints, and caring for head, neck and back injuries.

Upon course completion, students receive certifications in Lifeguarding, CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), AED (Automated External Defibrillator), First Aid and Preventing Disease Transmission.

ARC certified and experienced Instructors Mike Dowell and Karen Powers will teach the course. They teach courses for the RBAC (including the adult swim classes), and in addition have provided Lifeguard Training and in-services for the cities of Glendale and Burbank. Between them, there are over 50 years of experience.

This course is open to all individuals 15 years and older. Attendance at all classes is required and the Training Course fee is $275.00. (Manuals not included with the fee paid)

Don't Forget:

For the first class, all participants need to bring a suit, towel, goggles and a notepad.
For the 8 hour sessions, participants should bring a lunch.
Upon passing the Red Cross mandated 300 yard continuous swim test and other pre-course requirements, participants will receive access to the online student textbook. Hardcopy textbooks are available for purchase in the RBAC Aquatics Merchandise Shop.
